The local YMCA offers a "Punkins" gymnastics class for little ones, from walking age to 23 months. This morning was Elise's first class. We had been doing swimming, but it's such a pain in the winter, with all the wet stuff to deal with, that we decided to try gymnastics instead. And since Elise is such a climber and a doer, we figured she'd love it. And we were so right!
The little kids' gym is adorable - painted in bright colors with all kinds of kid-sized equipment, from a mini pit to a bar to a little trampoline. Each class has a theme, and today's class was "Halloween". There were pumpkins everywhere, a witch's cauldron, a little 'haunted house', and more. We started and ended class with a song, and in the middle, the kids were allowed to explore all the equipment. Well, actually, the end was 5 min in the big ball pit, which Elise LOVED!
For better or worse, Elise is FEARLESS! The instructor and the other parents even commented on how she is so fearless, and also, how rough and tumble she is. Nothing really fazes her, even the flip she did off the trampoline that stopped my heart for a few seconds! She hopped right back up, like she hadn't just completed a stunt normally reserved for Olympic-level gymnasts. I'm still recovering...
Here's a few pics of her first class...
