Dysfunction junction, what's your malfunction?

My body is malfunctioning, thanks to Mini the Sequel. Seriously! I had my 15 week appt last week (baby is good - heartrate in the 150s - I need to go check what Elise's was!) Anyhow, I mentioned that I my sciatica pain was getting worse, and I was concerned because it was happening so early on in this pregnancy. I had it with Elise as well (my children like to pick on me), but it started much later and progresses slower. It got much better after she was born, but the pain never completely went away, especially if I laid on my back.

So, she gave me a referral for a PT eval. And that sciatica pain? Turns out I actually have sacroiliac dysfunction!

My spine and pelvic bone junction is disfunctioning, causing a major malfunction.

Basically, if you don't feel like reading that link, pregnancy hormones cause ligments, tendons, and joints to loosen in preparation for birth. It affects some women more than others, and I'm one of the lucky ones that it affects more seriously. The joint between my spine and pelvic bone is completely out of whack, which is causing this pain. It's also causing lots of, well, um, pubic bone pain. Unfortunately, it's getting worse and worse very quickly. I was having a hard time even walking today.

The bad news is there's no easy solution. The good news is I get twice weekly massages for the next six weeks. Yep, I'll be going for twice weekly PT for at least six weeks where I'll be getting hot/cold therapy, massage, and doing exercises and stretches. Wish me luck!!!
