Dear Elise,
Four months old. It doesn’t seem real. We waited so long for you to get here, and now it’s going by so quickly. Although since you’re still waking up multiple times every night, it doesn’t seem quite so quick at 4 am. I do love you, but I think I’d love you a wee bit more if I got a full night’s sleep. I think I’d even buy you a pony if you’d start sleeping through the night. Deal?
You're about to go on your first trip to Florida. A jet-setter at four months. It fits you perfectly. I can't wait to see how you react to the warm weather, the water, the sand, everything. I love watching you learn and take in the world. People are constantly commenting on how alert you are. And they're right. You are constantly taking everything in.
Which is probably why you don't like to nap. You are so afraid you are going to miss something exciting. You fight sleep...you just don't want to close your eyes, because you might miss something. Little girl, I promise, our lives are not that interesting. Take the chance to sleep now; I would!
Although I say our lives are not that interesting, they really are. But it's because of you that they are. Your daddy and I find the smallest things you do so endearing. We watch every move you make, listen for every sound you make, smile with every new thing you do. It might be cliche, but you have shown us how fulfilling life can be. I love you, Mommy
